The 2016 Copa América Centenario (Centennial Copa America) will take place in the United States of America and this actually is the first ever Copa América that will be hosted by a country outside of South America. Indeed, Copa América Centenario comes as a celebration of the centenary of “CONMEBOL” (South American Football Confederation) and in general this will be the 45th edition of Copa América. First one was obviously back in 1916 and 100 years later we are set for the first ever competition with 16 teams involved. This comes as an agreement between both American football federations (CONMEBOL and CONCACAF), as a very unique edition between the regular Copa América that usually takes place in four-year cycle.

The 2016 Copa América Centenario will kick-off on 3rd of June (local time) and the opening ceremony will be held at “Levi’s Stadium” in Santa Clara, where hosts USA and Colombia will meet in the first game.
The 2015 Copa America hosts and also winners Chile will start their campaign as being involved in one of the most intriguing games and also replay of the 2015 Copa America final – Chile against Argentina. Once again venue of the Group D encounter is “Levi’s Stadium” in Santa Clara, where Chile and the finalists from the 2014 FIFA World Cup will begin their new intercontinental quest.
The final match of Copa América Centenario is scheduled for 26 June 2016 and it will be staged at “MetLife Stadium” in East Rutherford.
