Maribor is a well-known name, despite not leaving a strong mark in European tournaments in recent years. Last summer, they were eliminated on the brink of the groups by Romanian side Cluj, and the year before by Hammarby in the Conference League. Now they ousted Maltese side Birkirkara, but it wasn't an easy feat. They did it after a 1-1 draw at home and a 2-1 victory in the second leg.
DIFFERDANGE 03 was always quickly eliminated from Europe in recent years. However, last summer they played decently against another Slovenian team. That squad was Olimpija, and Dudelange had two 1-1 draws before losing in extra time. In their first match at home against Maribor, they finished with a 1-1 draw.
Maribor is not what it used to be. DIFFERDANGE 03 cannot be underestimated, as they showed a year ago against Olimpija. Now, I expect them to put up a strong resistance against another Slovenian team. However, I think Maribor will advance, but Dudelange might not lose by more than one goal.
